Title I

Brevard Public Schools, in collaboration with the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard, offers a Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK) at selected schools with limited enrollment. VPK is a FREE early learning program to prepare four-year-olds for kindergarten and build the foundation for school success. Students must be 4 years old on or before September 1.

VPK students participate in a high quality program with the implementation of the VPK Education Standards which describe the skills they should know and be able to do by the end of their VPK experience. The following types of VPK Programs are offered at selected schools with limited enrollment:

Step FOURward VPK
The Step FOURward VPK classes are offered at identified Title I schools for eligible students who reside in the attendance area of the school. The classroom serves twenty prekindergarten students with a certified teacher and instructional assistant.
Blended VPK
The Blended VPK classrooms are comprised of ten basic education students and eight exception education students with a certified teacher and two instructional assistants. The VPK students will be role models for the students with special needs as they work and learn together.
Early Childhood Education VPK
The Early Education Childhood VPK program is offered at five high schools to eligible students. The certified teacher and instructional assistant provide a prekindergarten program for high school students to learn about early childhood programs.
Summer VPK
The summer VPK program is open to eligible students before they start kindergarten and they did not attend the previous school year VPK program. The class consists of a maximum of twelve students with a certified teacher and certified support teacher.
