Brevard Public Schools offers a variety of prekindergarten programs to prepare and build the foundation for school success. The following types of prekindergarten programs are available:
The Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program, in collaboration with the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard, is a state funded early learning program. It is offered at selected schools with limited enrollment. Students must be 4 years old on or before September 1.
· Step FOURward VPK
The Step FOURward VPK classes are offered at identified Title I schools for eligible students who reside in the attendance area of the school.
· Blended VPK
The Blended VPK classrooms are comprised of ten basic education students and eight exceptional education students. The VPK students are role models for the students with special needs as they work and learn together.
· Head Start/VPK
The Head Start/VPK classes are offered at identified locations for eligible students.
· Early Childhood Education VPK
The Early Education Childhood VPK program is offered at five high schools to eligible students.
· Summer VPK
The summer VPK program is open to eligible students in the months before they start kindergarten. This summer program is for students who did not attend the previous school year VPK program.
